A BIT MORE INFO
The eco cottage is designed to blend into its environment, taking full advantage of the constant and cooling trade winds.
The cottage comprises a large studio bedroom with an well equipped kitchen, and an ample veranda and spacious bathroom. There are multiple dining areas, which you can choose according to the sun and the wind. The large bathroom includes a rain shower with hot water.
The large studio room is designed to make the most of the excellent views and to be immersed in nature. There are no glass windows so you control the breeze by simply adjusting the shutters.
The veranda offers you a great view overlooking the bay with its marine life. While you enjoy the cooling breeze relaxing in the hammocks, you will often see fish jumping and pelicans flying over the bay.
The gazebo on the water front is in Wifi range and has a BBQ nearby, with free use of a kayak (including life jackets).
From the jetty you may see stingrays and swarms of fish passing by during the day. At night it’s a beautiful spot for stargazing.
The cottage is surrounded by a lush tropical garden with lots of hummingbirds. We have one lovely cat that lives around the cottage. It will offer you company and can be locked outside.
ARNO
“Me” love Antigua. I have lived on and off in Antigua for over 20 years. Now I live here fulltime. I am trained in the hospitality industry. I was born in Switzerland and like maintaining this one acre property and love to be out on the sea with the speedboat, doing inshore barracuda fishing, catching lobsters, snorkeling and diving over at Green Island. I am a PADI Dive Instructor.
Don’t take our word for it
“Arno is wonderful hosts and we enjoyed every precious minute spent at the Blue Pearl. The cottage is very private and open air with windows and doors that open out onto a gorgeous deck overlooking Dian Bay near Long Bay. We spent time on the deck having tea and breakfast and reading in the hammocks. It is amazing to enjoy this space that truly integrates with nature. We took the tandem kayak out on Dian bay a few times, walked over to Devil’s Bridge National Park at Indian Point and walked to Long Bay Beach daily. We used the BBQ nightly and took advantage of the mats to to stargaze late at night or enjoy the sun on the dock during the day. Arno also took us out on his boat for a fishing and snorkeling trip that really made our vacation. We also enjoyed a lovely Sunday evening meal and dancing with our wonderful hosts at a local restaurant. The Blue Pearl is everything you could want for a relaxing break from reality and time to truly enjoy spending with your partner. The cottage is secluded and requires a lot of steps to get to and from the car, beach, etc. so not recommended for anyone with mobility challenges. There is only 1 walk-able restaurant at Long Bay Beach called Mama Pasta, but it’s truly delicious (closes early by about 4pm and closed Monday’s). There are a few shops for trinkets and souvenirs on the beach as well. The nearby village of Willikies (5 min drive) has some snacks and local food. Grocery stores are 15-45 minute drive away in St. John’s and English Harbor. There are 3 resorts (Pineapple Bay Beach Club, Verandah, Hammock Cove) within the vicinity and thus sometimes music played at night that travels across the bay. I recommend renting a 4 wheel drive car as there are many hills and some rough roads around the island and exploring to try out as many beaches and sights as possible is a MUST. You can get anywhere on the island within an hour. Thank you again Arno, for creating such an incredible space, for your generous hospitality and for making our trip to Antigua so special and memorable!”
